Return from a CFATG-sponsored conference: Loïc Platteeuw
Thanks to the support of CFATG, I had the opportunity to present the results of my second-year thesis at the EMBO Autophagy Across Scales conference. It was a stimulating experience, both scientifically and personally. I had the chance to exchange ideas with internationally renowned researchers, which deepened my insights and advanced my thesis project. The feedback I received was extremely positive and opened up new perspectives for me, particularly regarding my career plans.
The conference covered various aspects of autophagy. New players in mitophagy were introduced, as well as mechanisms by which viruses, such as SARS-CoV-2, exploit the autophagy machinery to their advantage. Innovative techniques, like cryo-electron tomography, were also presented, enabling exceptional visualization of autophagosome formation. Additionally, emerging concepts, such as proteins acting as receptors to facilitate targeted RNA degradation, sparked many exciting debates and exchanges during the conference.
This conference was a valuable source of knowledge and inspiration, not only for the continuation of my thesis work but also for my future career in science. Thank you, CFATG!
